The Institute for International Programs (IIP) at the Johns Hopkins University is leading the development of common results-monitoring indicators and producing an overarching monitoring framework for the Catalytic Initiative to Save a Million Lives. The aim is to identify, assess, and help implement methods for determining short-term changes in mortality rates among children under five years of age in low-income settings with weak health systems. The common, validated method for reporting results would be the basis for monitoring progress, making mid-course corrections, and supporting performance-based financing.</pb:description><pb:status>Closed</pb:status><pb:start>2007</pb:start><pb:end>2010</pb:end><pb:countries><pb:country>Africa multiple countries: 45%</pb:country><pb:country>Asia multiple countries: 35%</pb:country><pb:country>Americas multiple countries: 15%</pb:country><pb:country>Europe multiple countries: 5%</pb:country></pb:countries><pb:executingAgencyPartner>Johns Hopkins University</pb:executingAgencyPartner><pb:CIDASectorsOfFocus><pb:CIDASectorOfFocus>Improving health</pb:CIDASectorOfFocus></pb:CIDASectorsOfFocus><pb:DACSectors><pb:DACSector>Health policy and administrative management(012110): 100%</pb:DACSector></pb:DACSectors><pb:maximumCIDAContribution>$ 1,300,000</pb:maximumCIDAContribution><pb:expectedResults>This is a new feature, part of CIDA's efforts towards increasing transparency.
