| Description | ||||
| This project aims to build the capacities of the Economic Community of East African States (ECOWAS) Parliament and Secretariat to support conflict prevention and management in West Africa. These capacities include fostering an increased understanding of the gender dimension of conflict in the region; developing skills and training handbooks that include gender issues, analysis, and approaches as a key facet of conflict prevention; and a creating longer-term plan for raising the institutional capacities of gender sensitive conflict prevention role for ECOWAS Parliament (as part of a long-term strategic plan). The overarching goal is to help address the failure of governance as a prime cause of violent conflict in West Africa, by contributing to the development of regional institutional capacity and political will. | ||||
