The Caribbean has the second highest AIDS prevalence rate in the world—second only to sub-Saharan Africa—and the highest in the western hemisphere. The evaluation marked the end of the funding for the first five-year project—CAREC/CIDA HIV/AIDS Project (CHAP). The focus of this evaluation was the identification of lessons, for each of CHAP's five key results areas, which could be applied in the new programme.
