Canada's Second Report to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification on Activities with Developing-country Partners

As a Party to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), Canada has taken a number of measures to assist developing countries in their fight against desertification within the framework of development cooperation. CIDA is the federal department responsible for the implementation of the UNCCD, and our Desertification Office coordinates our response as a donor country and as an affected country.

This report illustrates a number of new and innovative initiatives that help developing countries combat desertification. These initiatives, implemented in 2001-02, involve a wide array of Canadian and developing-country partners, from government institutions to community organizations.
