Position Description:


  • Assist the Rotary Club with research and data collection with regard to students' knowledge and risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Assist with the health component related to the development and delivery of an educational and media campaign focused on reducing the risks of Cardiovascular disease.
  • Work to create support for this campaign from government, media and private institutions.
  • Collaborate with other service clubs on community health campaigns.
  • Assist the Rotary Club in preparing and translating documents into English

Qualifications:
  • Meet all IYP eligibility requirements
  • A university degree or diploma in nursing, nutrition, health sciences or a health related field
  • Strong communication, research and organizational skills
  • Experience working or volunteering in the health sector
  • Experience working with youth groups
  • Advanced Spanish language skills
  • Previous travel/volunteer experience in a developing country
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to challenging circumstances and work with limited resources
  • Mandatory qualifications for visa purposes - ability to acquire 1) a medical certificate stating that you have "no communicable diseases" and 2) a clear criminal record check.
Host Organization: Club Rotario Guayaquil
Host Organization Details: This position will focus on promoting health with at risk populations in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Ecuador Rotary District 4400 is implementing a nutritional program intended to reduce the cardiovascular risk factors including obesity of school age children and youth in Ecuador. The interns will work with the Rotary Club to plan and implement this Cardiovascular campaign. The interns will also work with a variety of professionals and business people from the Rotary Club to complete other health and education related activities.
