Project Description: VSO has implemented a project focused on providing community home-based care (CHBC) services to people living with HIV&AIDS in the Far North Province of Cameroon. VSO will be working in close partnership with GICAF to implement this program. The project is focused in four areas of the Far North Province:- Kaélé (rural), Kousseri (urban), and Bogo (rural). Building on the work of CIDA IYIP volunteers in 07/08, the intern will work in close collaboration with the National Volunteer in the region, to provide support in mobilizing these communities to become more engaged in CHBC. Overseas Job Description: In collaboration with the National Volunteer, the intern will work closely with site supervisors to mobilize communities to become more involved in CHBC activities including: - Develop strategies to mobilize youth to become more involved as community volunteers - Provide support in promoting spirit of volunteerism among youth through the implementation of education programs - Develop strategies to fundraise at community level to enable volunteers to carry out CHBC activities (resource mobilisation) - Develop a monitoring and evaluation system for CHBC engagement with youth - Elaborate a communications strategy to make the work of the CHBC project more visible to potential donors - Identify youth volunteer projects relevant to the needs of CHBC activities Qualifications: The intern will be expected to have the following qualifications: *These are in addition to the baseline YES qualifications at outlined by the CIDA-IYIP program The volunteer will have: - Strong interest and some knowledge in local development - Experience in training and facilitation - Strong knowledge and experience in community development - Experience in community mobilization - Strong experience in fundraising and resource mobilization It is desirable that the volunteer also have: - Experience or interest in volunteering and working alongside volunteers - An understanding of the potential of local volunteers in community development - A willingness and desire to learn - Prior experience working with youth - Education undergraduate degree Language requirements: - The volunteer will need to have at least level 4 of French (ability to work in French) and level 1 of English. |
