The intern will be working with SCC to expand on a multi-faceted
strategy related to cooperatives,HIV/AIDS and Gender. SCC's current program has
examined the impacts of HIV/AIDS on agricultural systems, farmers, households,
women, children, productivity, economics and on cooperatives; HIV/AIDS care,
mitigation and prevention strategies. The effects of the pandemic have a
heavily negative impact in all sectors in which SCC operates, especially in
agriculture. All SCC supported initiatives include HIV/AIDS and Gender
information, education and communication, as well as activities for HIV
prevention and AIDS mitigation among SCC target groups. A part from this
overall approach, SCC is also supporting special focus initiatives. In Canada In Canada the intern will attend a pre-departure orientation. Overseas Evaluation and monitoring of current projects: - Evaluate the impact of current project's work on behaviour change in mitigating the impacts of HIV/AIDS. First, use Outcome Mapping, which is cutting edge for measuring behaviour change outcomes of development projects. Second, the evaluation would also serve to measure the impacts of current Community Based Organizations and NGOs working indirectly with cooperatives. Information Dissemination - Building on the excellent work of the past interns for the HIV/AIDS and Gender work of the SCC, this work requires follow up research and information dissemination. Develop further strategies for the dissemination of directories and analyses and have direct visits with the primary cooperatives mentioned in the documents to see if they have followed up on their 'to-do' list for HIV/AIDS and Gender interventions. |
