MBAs Without Borders (MWB) has partnered with International Finance
Corporation (IFC) Ukraine to bring one qualified MBA to work as a Policy
IFC's Ukraine SME Policy Development Project activities focus on 3 objectives: working directly with government to reduce the regulatory burden to business, conducting a nation-wide SME survey, and working to improve the legal awareness of SMEs. The Project is concentrating policy work on streamlining the process of obtaining business permits. The Project also publishes a regular survey of the business environment for SMEs, which analyzes the main administrative obstacles faced by local firms, monitors the impact of reforms on the private sector, and presents recommendations to improve the business environment.
The intern will spend the Canadian portion of the internship preparing for their posting by conducting background research on the IFC and learning about Ukraine. The intern will also prepare and understand the pressing issues faced by SMEs in Eastern Europe, particularly, Ukraine.
The intern will be enrolled in CIL's pre-departure courses.
On return to Canada, the MBA intern will be required to debrief with program staff and the Intern Program Manager and to prepare a final report/case study on the internship. In addition, the intern will be enrolled in CIL's debriefing and re-entry workshop.
Participate in reform of issuing business permits, planning and conducting inspections, assurance, certification and technical regulation in Ukraine and in other activities aiming at improvement of business environment.
Contribute to analyzing survey data.
Analyze existing policy and situation and formulate proposals for policy changes - in particular, work on gathering/analyzing/summarizing information on how these policy issues are dealt with in other relevant countries.
Provide input for and participate in events, informational activities, etc.
Participate in preparation of informational materials, articles, etc.
