| Description du stage : |
The Landmine Survivors Network (LSN) in Vietnam does not provide health
or other services directly to survivors but rather builds the capacity of civil
society by linking survivors to services in the communities in which they
reside. Over the past several years staff in the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit of the LSN head office have been working to acculturate LSN field staff to monitor and evaluate projects and use data collected to make informed decisions, but it is still new way of operating for many field offices. Currently, staff members of LSN's head office are developing a new Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Plan for its work internationally. The M&E Plan database to support the plan will be completed by March 2007. After a pilot-testing phase, LSN field offices will be trained on the plan and database starting in July 2007. In Canada For a period of at least one month prior to departure, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be guided in researching the role of the host organization, developing a public engagement strategy, and acquiring basic knowledge of M&E in a results-based context. This preparatory phase includes a one-week intensive pre-departure training session delivered by Saint Mary's University. In addition, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will register for a session sponsored by CIDA through the Centre for Intercultural Learning. Overseas Together with other staff members of LSN Vietnam, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will attend training in LSN's new M&E Plan and database. The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will then provide targeted support to the LSN staff who implement the M&E plan. Specific responsibilities will include: communicating with M&E staff in Washington, DC about field staff's implementation of the M&E Plan; conducting project site visits to gather M&E data; interpreting reports generated from the database that supports the M&E Plan; discussing interpretations of database reports with field staff; and working with field staff to apply interpretations of the reports to the program. |
