Over the past fifteen years, CAUSE Guatemala has partnered with IMDI in
Todos Santos to provide programming in the areas of community water projects,
micro-enterprise development/loans, women's literacy, health and reforestation.
Throughout these programs, a primary focus has been on improving the standard
of living of the communities while renewing the integrity of the environment
and enhancing gender equality. CAUSE Canada and IMDI recently worked together
to implement a three year Women's Integral Empowerment Project with CIDA. This
project seeks to continue the expansion of that undertaking to reach all of the
villages in the area with women's literacy, numeracy, basic financial
management skills (budgeting, saving, etc.) and other leadership skills.
Health, water and environmental activities are also integral parts of this
project, which strives to improve the quality of life for its participants and
The intern will fully participate in the CAUSE orientation sessions, learning about CAUSE policies and projects, studying culture shock and possible strategies to deal with it, and acquiring many other skills necessary for a successful internship.
The intern will also participate in the final debriefing, reviewing their experiences on the field with CAUSE and each other. The intern will complete an evaluation of their internship, prepare for post-internship pursuits, and engage in public engagement activities. These outreach activities will raise public awareness of intern experiences, CAUSE and CIDA programs, and Canada's role in international development.
The Women's Program Facilitator will work with the CAUSE Guatemala Representative and the local partners to:
Work with local Board, staff and residents to understand and promote women's participation in leadership roles;
Train, coach and support local women as leaders;
Assist in the development of programs to serve women; and
Report to CAUSE Guatemala Country Director and the CAUSE Canada Program Director.

|Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil :||The mandate of CAUSE Guatemala is to serve the relief and development needs of the people of Guatemala. CAUSE Canada was instrumental in starting CAUSE Guatemala in 1987, and the two offices have been working in partnership ever since. CAUSE Guatemala operates in accordance with same policies and guidelines as CAUSE Canada. Through the efforts of this partnership other local organizations have been created: IMDI (Todos Santos) and the Comitancillo Fruit Growers Association (Comitancillo). Over the last 19 years, CAUSE Guatemala has implemented community water projects, primary health care programs, micro-enterprise programs, reforestation projects, and women's training programs.|
