EIC insists that all project benefits derived from community development, relief and rehabilitation are to be available to all, regardless of race, gender, or religion. Description du stage : Uhambingeto Dispensary includes an out patients department, child health clinics, sexual health services, family planning, and a nursery school. It provides essential treatment and preventative health services to the rural community which consits of 5 sub-villages. The dispensary also provides health education by working in conjunction with village health workers and local schools. The intern will be working together with the Dispensary and School staff to bring motivation and resources to local people with regards to nutrition and food security.

In Canada
The intern is responsible for attending training sessions and preparing themselves for their time abroad.

After an initial month of studying the national language of Swahili, the intern will live and work in the remote village of Uhambingeto. He or she will work with the Diocesan Dispensary staff. and liase with village health workers and local schools. The activities that this intern will be involved with include:
* To bring motivation and resourcefulness to the staff at the dispensary with regards to nutrition and food security.
* To identify and address child malnutrition through growth monitoring clinics and follow up home visits.
* To increase awareness and understanding among villagers and staff of the role of nutrition in health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of disease including HIV/AIDS, through teaching at clinics and in schools, and working with community groups.
* To improve villagers' capacity to increase their food security and nutritional status through demonstrating and teaching the use of kitchen gardens, grey water recyling and composting.
