The Rural Development Officer will gain practical work experience with
youth on community development projects in the rural area of Nyeri, Kenya. In Canada The successful candidate will start their orientation online from their residence in Canada which will include; document preparation, project research and planning, and initial contact with their host organizations. The remainder of the orientation (one week) will be conducted on site at the College of the Rockies in Cranbrook, BC which includes a project and country orientation, health and safety workshops, personal and professional action plans, trip planning, interaction with previous interns, a career development workshop, and participation in the CIL pre-departure training program. Overseas The successful intern will work with the Kenyan Entrepreneurship Empowerment Foundation to develop new community development projects for rural youth. The intern will work in partnership with local, national, and international governmental and non-governmental organizations to create new opportunities for the community. The intern will contribute to KEEF's ongoing aqua culture development project including researching and applying for new grant funding. The intern will assess the community needs and develop projects for rural youth to gain employment skills. |
