Description du stage : The intern will be involved in SEAMEO INNOTECH's 'Applied Academics for Excellence' (APEX) project, a municipal-government initiated education reform program targeting potentially at-risk high school students. The goal of the APEX Project is to assist in developing and sustaining school-community-family partnerships for educational improvement and poverty eradication in rural Philippine communities. Through the building of academic, technical and basic employability skills necessary for a successful work life, at-risk youths will be encouraged to stay in school in order to pursue careers of choice.

In Canada
The intern will perform the following tasks while in Canada:
- Promotion and marketing of the CIDA-IYIP Camosun College program in the community
- Participation in ongoing Camosun College International community development activities.
- Developing teaching and learning aids for community education activities in your host community.
- Developing your reporting and self-evaluation process for your internship
- Beginning your post-internship job search plan
- Liaising with your host organization for the achievement of locally determined internship results, and developing tools and resources to ensure that you achieve these results
- Investigating possible linkages between Canadian youth and your host organization through CIDA and other donor initiatives such as the Global Classrooms Initiative

Overseas
The intern will assist SEAMEO INNOTECH in the delivery of the project 'Applied Academics for Excellence.' The implementation of strategies for student retention, assessment of learning needs, and the development of action plans for infrastructure, resources, and instructor training will be the main focus of the internship.
Tasks will include:
- Assist in the development of models for community based learning and school-community partnerships
- Assist in the development of basic workplace and entrepreneurial competencies among students through Contextual Teaching and Learning, Career Preparation and Enterprise Preparation programs
- Assist in the planning, management, supervision, and evaluation of activities that will prepare the public high schools to be model schools in APEX
- Assist in the application of all of the above onto distance education platforms for dissemination to outlying communities
- Provide administrative support in project implementation
