Description du stage : The intern will be involved in a project to maintain the biodiversity and to generate income through the non-consumptive use of the Bimbia Bonadikombo Community Forest in South West Cameroon. This internship will focus on agro-forestry in this regard.

In Canada
The intern will perform the following tasks while in Canada:
- Promotion and marketing of the CIDA-IYIP Camosun College program in the community
- Participation in ongoing Camosun College International community development activities.
- Developing teaching and learning aids for community education activities in your host community.
- Developing your reporting and self-evaluation process for your internship
- Beginning your post-internship job search plan
- Liaising with your host organization for the achievement of locally determined internship results, and developing tools and resources to ensure that you achieve these results
- Investigating possible linkages between Canadian youth and your host organization through CIDA and other donor initiatives such as the Global Classrooms Initiative

Overseas
The intern will assist Bimbia Bonadikombo Community Forest project staff to develop and implement a long-term forest management plan and business plan for its agro-forestry programs.
Overall objectives are to assist in the organization's maintenance of biodiversity and the local community generation of income through the non consumptive use of the forest; to provide training services to the community on conserving biodiversity while maintaining a sustainable livelihood; and to conduct reforestation to attain target basal areas to maintain soil and water for sustainable production of forest products.
Organisation d'accueil : Bimbia Bonadikombo Natural Resource Management Council
Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : Bimbia Bonadikombo Natural Resource Management Council, was recognized by the Cameroon Parliament as a legal entity on 20 November 1998. All of this community organization's activities are geared toward sustainable development. The community is located in the South West Province, in the Fako division of the Limbe subdivision of Cameroon.
Main priorities of the organization are as follows:
1-Conservation of the forest's rich biodiversity,
2-Ecotourism,
3-Sustainable exploitation of charcoal, fuelwood, timber and non timber
forest products,
4-Sustainable agriculture and agro forestry,
5-Reforestation of degraded areas,
6-Protection of water catchments, and
7-Bee farming.
The overall mandate is the alleviation of poverty, and sustaining the livelihood of the local community.
