1) Meet key staff with whom to communicate while in the field.
2) Review current and past programs.
3) Review program specific documents.
4) Attend Team Meetings.
LACRO Cross Functional Team (LXFT)
1) Meet with Team Leader.
2) Meet with Regional Program Manager.
3) Attend LXFT meetings.
International and Canadian Programs (ICP) and Technical Division
1) Attend devotions for ICP and Technical Teams.
2) Research country specific issues.
3) Review relevant literature.
4) Preparation of Program Report after returning from overseas.
The intern will work closely with the ADP staff, UOCIC leadership and broader community to develop a community economic development strategy, with a focus on the ecotourism centre. A major component of this strategy will be the identification of capacity building needs and developing appropriate workshops and training plans for the community members involved in the ecotourism project. This capacity building and economic development strategy will be focused on women and youth in the community, and special care will be taken to ensure that the greatest number of people possible from the community benefit from and are involve in the project. The capacity building strategy will include on the job training in the first months that the ecotourism centre is open.
The intern will also be involved in helping community members to identify and develop complimentary business initiatives and tourist activities (such as artisan workshops and local tours), and will be engaged capacity building initiatives and follow-up visits to support these complimentary activities. The intern will work with FODEMI (WV Ecuador micro-credit branch) to help the entrepreneurs access credit if and where necessary. Finally, the intern will work closely with the National Office in the development and implementation of the marketing strategy, including working to expand the marketing campaign into North America.
