The intern will be assisting the Grant Manager of the
Governance-Ecosystems-Livelihoods (GEL) project. The GEL program is targeting,
building the capacity of World Vision staff and local partners to understand
and use better systems-based frameworks for planning and implementation of
development programs. World Vision currently operates in an Area Development
Model, which targets the integrated development of a geographic area. Systems
based frameworks such as the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach (SLA) and
Ecosystem Health (ESH) will improve the capacity of local institutions and
organizations to analyse the vulnerability of the context as well as the impact
of external systems on the sustainable success or failure of local initiatives.
The GEL program is scheduled to commence in April 2007. In Canada Regional Programs 1) Meet key staff with whom to communicate while in the field. 2) Review current and past programs. 3) Review program specific documents. 4) Attend Team Meetings. Africa Cross Functional Team (AXFT) 1) Meet with Team Leader. 2) Meet with Regional Program Manager. 3) Attend AXFT meeting. International and Canadian Programs (ICP) 1) Attend devotions for ICP. 2) Research country specific issues. 3) Review relevant literature on issues. 4) Preparation of Program Report after returning from overseas. Overseas The intern will be tasked with organizational responsibilities as well as capacity building activities. Organizational responsibilities include assisting in the organization of scheduled workshops, trainings and discussion forums. Capacity building activities include researching and providing capacity building, and information-gathering services for staff in the targeted Area Development Programs (ADP). The focus of the capacity building will be on gender and the environment/ecosystems. |
