Mandat : Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), the only English-language public college in Nova Scotia, consists of thirteen campuses at sixteen sites throughout the province. The intern's responsibilities during the In-Canada portion of the internship will be as follows:

- gain a better understanding of the host organization and country, as well as of specific internship responsibilities
- in cooperation with the Project Coordinator evaluate and possibly redefine career goals
- establish direct contact with the host organization (introduction, discussion on relevant placement details)
- active participation in the mandatory pre-departure orientation program at Nova Scotia Community College, as well as in the orientation program organized by the Centre for Inter-cultural Learning
- active participation in the mandatory debriefing program

As part of the Fundación Amanecer team, the interns will provide basic education and other support services for young children and youth in homes operated by the Foundation. As directed by the leaders of the homes, the interns, as part of an interdisciplinary team, will assist Amanecer staff in the provision of learning activities for children and youth groups. The intern will be expected to:
- interact with Fundación Amanecer staff in an effort to identify and provide most appropriate education services for children and youth
- identify and evaluate learning needs of children and youth
- explore teaching strategies that can be applied and develop appropriate learning tools
- plan and implement recreational, therapeutic and social programs for children and youth
- brief local staff on prevalent practices in Canada
- provide general child care duties
- coordinate activities with other program components of the Foundation
- perform related duties as required.

Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : Fundación Amanecer's clients include displaced children and youth ages newborn to eighteen years as well as the mothers of these children and youth. Fundación Amanecer has more than twenty years of experience providing for their clients a number of support services, such as shelter, food, clothing, formal and informal education, medical and dental care, and counselling. In addition, basic technical training is offered in programs such as metal working, carpentry, agricultural technology, and automotive mechanics.
