The Eastern Corridor Livelihood Security Promotion Programme includes
two components - Rural Youth Self-Employment, and Reproductive Health and
HIV/AIDS Education. The main goal of the youth programme is to improve
livelihood opportunities for male and female young artisans. The programme is
operational in peri-rural and urban setting and involves in and out of school
youth. It includes: small scale enterprise development training; reproductive
health and HIV-AIDS education; peace education and credit union development.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with more than 15 educational
institutions: teacher training college, senior secondary schools and many
junior secondary schools. In Canada In Canada the intern will attend a pre-departure orientation. Overseas The purpose of this position will be to support the Youth Programme Officer and three District Project Officers to create a baseline data for the impact monitoring of the reproductive health and HIV-AIDS Education. The program is operating in more than 20 rural senior and junior secondary schools. The information collected will be used to develop educational materials as well as monitoring the impact of the program in the area. This will be the third survey conducted which will allow for evaluation of progress. Towards this end the specific tasks of the intern will include: A. Preparation of reproductive health and HIV-AIDS baseline data and information: - to work with the other staff to administer the Reproductive Health and HIV-AIDS Education baseline questionnaire - to process and analyse the questionnaire and write the baseline information and report - to present the highlights of the baseline data to participating schools B. Work to develop appropriate educational materials in light of baseline analysis. C. Update the information as a continuous monitoring tool. |
