|Description du stage :||
-The internship will contribute to R.E.A.C.H.'s capacity by assisting to
expand its programs to other areas of the island, by creating a sustainable
welfare-housing project specifically for elderly persons, and through awareness
-The internship will contribute to the social, health and spiritual needs of the vulnerable elderly increasing their quality of life and sense of well being.
-Attend Help the Aged (Canada) training and Department of Foreign Affairs, Centre for Intercultural Learning, workshop.
-In consultation with Project Coordinator, develop a job search strategy.
-Complete IYIP and HTAC documentation, register with ROCA (DFAIT).
-Complete required inoculations, visa and/or work permit, travel and travel insurance arrangements.
-Establish contact with overseas host organization.
-Attend HTAC and CIL debriefing sessions.
-Prepare a final report on activities, outputs and challenges, make recommendations for future programs.
-Promote the IYIP and intern's involvement.
-To provide meaningful and varied programming to the REACH daycare, consulting and working with the REACH Age Care workers in the process.
-To organize and facilitate a yearly benefit concert as a fundraiser for REACH, including promotion and use of the media sources.
-Facilitate a community Housing Project for Scott's Head-Soufriere Region by working with a local committee to develop and implement the project.
-To provide assistance to REACH volunteers in the maintenance and expansion of the Membership Program.
-To provide assistance to the REACH Age Care workers and volunteers with the distribution of donated goods and the reports that need to be written for this.
-To provide support and guidance to the elderly and other needy people who visit the REACH office on a daily basis.
-To maintain and update the REACH website. Updating the photo library and the major occurrences happening at REACH.
-To assist the Dominica Council on Aging to create/coordinate a recruitment/training program for individuals interested in volunteering with the aged population in areas all over the island. As well as creating an evaluation tool to monitor to effectiveness of various volunteer programs that provide outreach to the elderly.
-To collaborate with the REACH Age Care workers and volunteers/lay persons in the villages to identify those elderly persons that would benefits from the Meals on Wheels program and secure increased level of funding.
-Monitor and evaluate the Adopt-a-Gran program.
-Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Director.

Organized in 1979, the agency partners in intenational sponsorship programs and provides food and clothing distribution, OT and rehab, day care programs, and transport for medical appointments.|
