Mandat : The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is a unique coalition of Atlantic Canadian organizations and individuals working on, or having an interest in, international development and cooperation issues, working together to achieve sustainable global development in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice, human dignity, and participation for all. ACIC supports its members in development and development education through collective leadership, networking, information, training and coordination, and represents their interests when dealing with government and others. We currently have 55 members, including national and grassroots organizations from across the Atlantic Provinces.

Description du stage : This internship will focus on engaging youth in environmental issues and working in partnership with youth to raise awareness in their communities. The intern will have the opportunity to design and implement community-based action projects, building the capacity of marginalized youth.

In Canada
The intern will be involved in the following activities:
- Environmental Education - creating, organizing and conducting meetings workshops for the general public on environmental issues.
- Networking - liaising with community officials working within the youth sector and planning youth activities in conjunction with youth volunteer committee.
- Communications - research and design of outreach materials.

The intern will be involved in the following activities:
- Environmental Education - organizing, designing and conducting workshops and information sessions on environmental education topics.
- Outreach - working with other interns and staff to host events, to educate rural and marginalized youth on specific environmental issues of concern to their area.
- Communications - development of outreach materials targeting oppressed youth.
Organisation d'accueil : Arivu/Peace Child India
Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : Arivu is an India-based, registered organization set up in 2001. It works with Dalit (oppressed) and other marginalized communities to raise awareness about health, education, sustainable income generation, and human rights issues. Peace Child India is hosted by Arivu.
