Mandat : The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) is a unique coalition of Atlantic Canadian organizations and individuals working on, or having an interest in, international development and cooperation issues, working together to achieve sustainable global development in a peaceful and healthy environment, with social justice, human dignity, and participation for all. ACIC supports its members in development and development education through collective leadership, networking, information, training and coordination, and represents their interests when dealing with government and others. We currently have 55 members, including national and grassroots organizations from across the Atlantic Provinces.

Description du stage : BOCONGO and ACIC are partnering to provide each other with tools for increasing their capacity to serve their coalition members. The young professional will assist with transferring knowledge, skills, and tools between BOCONGO and ACIC to improve the evaluation capacity of both organizations.

In Canada
The young professional will be involved with staff and executive committees and assist in the following ways:
- Network among ACIC members;
- Develop a comprehensive assessment tool to monitor and evaluate organizational performance using participatory methods;
- Organise focus groups with key stakeholders to develop the tool and train members in PM & E;
- Undertake systematic monitoring of programmes and projects;
- Develop an evaluation report that includes recommendations;
- Develop a strategy document for next steps; and
- Disseminate reports and other pertinent information to ACIC member organizations.

The young professional will transfer skills learned at ACIC, and through their educational training, to assist BOCONGO with the following activities:
- Foster awareness about participatory monitoring and evaluation amongst BOCONGO members;
- Build the capacity of members and other stakeholders in PM & E;
- Work with staff, members, and other stakeholders to develop an assessment tool;
- Undertake systematic assessment of programs and projects of BOCONGO;
- Develop a report with recommendations for next steps; and
- Disseminate reports and other pertinent information to BOCONGO member organizations.

Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : The Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) is the national umbrella body for non-governmental organisations in Botswana. BOCONGO's mission is to "Assist in establishing an enabling environment for the NGO sector to become a recognised partner in the development process in Botswana and internationally; and to provide a platform for networking, advocacy, capacity building for local NGOs, and mobilising of resources for the self-sustainability of the NGO sector in Botswana."
