| Mandat : | Aga Khan Foundation Canada (AKFC) is a private, non-denominational, Canadian development agency established in 1980. As a member of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), AKFC promotes equitable and sustainable development in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender. For over 25 years, AKFC has partnered with CIDA on a range of successful programs in some of the poorest parts of the world. Concentrating on livelihoods, education, health and civil society strengthening, AKFC and its partners seek to address the interconnected causes of poverty through a long-term, multi-input approach that empowers individuals and communities to seek local solutions to the challenges of poverty. All programs share cross-cutting concerns for gender equality, environmental sustainability, pluralism and human resource development. In Canada, through policy dialogue, research, public engagement and opportunities for Canadians to live and work overseas, AKFC seeks to distil and enhance Canada's longstanding tradition of engagement in the world. AKFC places great importance on engaging Canadian youth in its development education and human resource development activities, especially through its Fellowships in International Development Management (IDM) and International Microfinance and Microenterprise (IMM). |
