The project is focused on developing strong linkages between
smallholders and agribusinesses through technology-sharing and contract
production/marketing agreements. Targeting various vulnerable communities in
the rural areas surrounding Kitwe, the goal is to provide communities with
consultancy on income generating activities based upon local strength and
support interlinking service providers to facilitate the success of the
The intern will participate actively in EWB's renowned pre-departure training program. The 200 hours of training is offered in small groups that are capped at 10 participants to ensure a suitable learning environment. Material is presented primarily though a case study based approach drawing heavily on EWB's field experience. Participants are expected to complete an extensive preparatory program prior to their arrival at training and to work diligently during training on the numerous assignments and activities.
The intern will be working with the staff of various ZATAC teams to improve implementation of agri-business support services. Specifically the intern will be work with various communities helping them to identify and bring to the market appropriate goods and serviced. They would then help establish a flexible and cost-effective monitoring system that would capture key information needed to support the program.
