| Description du stage : |
BONELA is starting a new children's rights project in 2007. The project
involves raising awareness of human rights and human rights concepts among
young people in Botswana by introducing human rights education into school
curriculums. BONELA has identified a gap in the lack of knowledge on human
rights and human rights concepts among communities that have participated in
BONELA human rights trainings. The poor knowledge of of human rights is
attributable to the fact that human rights education is not made a part of
early education in the Botswana education system, hence people are not
education on human rights concepts at an early age. A children's rights manual
will be developed with the involvement of the Ministry of Education so as to
influence the inclusion of the manual as part of the Junior Secondary School
curriculum. In Canada The Canadian phase of the internship will consist of training and preparations prior to departure and debriefing upon return. Overseas The intern will assist BONELA staff in developing content and information gathering for the children's rights program. The intern will also assist in conducting consultative meetings with stakeholders. The intern will be involved in public relations, communications, writing in various formats, information gathering and research. |
