| Description du stage : |
The Global Partnership Initiative (GPI) on Urban Youth Development in
Africa is an initiative of the United Nations Human Settlement Programme
(UN-HABITAT) in partnership with cities in Africa and youth agencies. The
overarching goal of the initiative is to mobilize and harness the abundant
resources of youth towards improving the quality of life in cities and towns.
This will empower vulnerable urban youth groups for improved socio-economic
inclusion and development. The GPI is unique in that it engages youth as key to
their own and their communities development. City Council of Nairobi was the
first to implement the GPI by setting up the One Stop Youth Centre as a Centre
for Urban Youth Development. The main taks of the intern is to participate in the implementation of the Global Partnership Initiative, specifically the Centres for Urban Youth Development in other african cities. They will be working with the Parterns and Youth Section of UN Habitat to ascertain the appropriate local partners (municipalities, civil society, UN agencies and other service providers) for extensions of the One Stop concept to other east african countries. Initially focussing on Rwanda and Tanzania, the intern would document the One Stop model so that the other local implementing groups can learn from teh Kenya model. |
