Description du stage : The YMCA in Trinidad is in the final stages of a campaign entitled "The S Word" which promotes safe sexuality. The final initiative of the campaign focuses on eight communities in Trinidad. In these communities the YMCA will provide HIV/AIDS education and partner with local businesses to increase the number of retail outlets distributing condoms. The YMCA is also in the planning process of a new campaign focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights, to be implemented in 2007.

The four week pre-departure training program "Young Professionals Going Global" is described in detail under the Implementation Plan and Time Line tab

Overseas
The HIV/AIDS Program Officer will train new members of the "Condom Krew" on HIV/AIDS and gender issues. Through this initiative the "Condom Krew" should be able to answer questions, provide condom demonstrations, and be sensitive to the needs of those individuals who attend the community interventions. The HIVPO will create a report on the results of the S Word survey, which took place in September 2006. In addition the HIVPO will assist with designing and implementing the sexual and reproductive health and rights campaign for 2007.

This is accomplished, through three main centers through Trinidad and Tobago, by working with the community to provide schooling, guidance, vocation and life skill training to impoverished members of the community.
