Since conception, Ikhwezi has strived to exist as a one-stop,
comprehensive HIV/AIDS management centre. It offers patients medical treatment
and care, social and psychological support, as well as health information and
education. Ikhwezi serves those within the community who are most disadvantaged
and isolated, particularly women and children. As a centre that reaches out by
delivering affordable and accessible integrated HIV treatment, disease
management advice, health education, and peer support, Ikhwezi serves as a
model for community care and hopes to build its capacity in the provision of
HIV/AIDS-related health care services. In Canada 4-week Pre-departure program "Young Professionals Going Global" detailed under the Implementation Plan and Time Line tab Overseas With a focus on CIDA's priority of HIV/AIDS STD control including HINV/AIDS, the Centre Support Officer will work at the Ikhwezi Lokusa Wellness Centre in the field of HIV/AIDS Health Care and Education. The CSO will assist the clinic to manage their medical and clinical database. The CSO will also assist the staff at the centre to source funding opportunities and develop funding proposals. Through the database management the CSO will collect and organize relevant patient information (anonymous) to be used in the development of funding proposals. The CSO will: - Develop medical/clinical database - Monitor and evaluate database management - Develop & deliver train the trainer workshop for database development and management upon internship completion - Research funding sources, nationally and internationally, for Centre sustainability - Support proposal preparation process |

It was established in 2003 by a group of committed female physicians who saw a need in the community for appropriate and reliable care for those affected by HIV/AIDS. |
