Description du stage : CIDA interns will be equipped to transfer the BioSand Water Filter technology to rural communities in the Xieng Khouang district in Laos with limited access to safe drinking water. Interns will gain first hand experience through training national staff, constructing and installing filters, conducting hygiene education workshops and monitoring and evaluation.

In Canada
While in Calgary for the briefing and de-briefing periods, interns will receive theoretical and practical training on the BioSand Water Filter, develop resume and employment skills, learn to conduct assessments and write comprehensive reports, and make presentations to a variety of audiences on the internship program, the work of Samaritan's Purse, and their personal experiences.

Overseas
While overseas, interns will be responsible for the transfer of the BioSand Water Filter technology to local rural communities and leaders. The interns will work alongside the local project managers and staff in meeting the needs of the local project. Interns will be responsible for tasks such as: reporting to the program manager, conducting training at project sites, developing training curriculum appropriate for the local context, assisting with on-going program development and project management, monitoring and evaluating the project and delivering reports on project activities. Specific activities will depend on the status of the project and opportunities presented by the host organization.
