Initially founded in the United States, the organization quickly established a Canadian operation in 1972 to tap the commitment and generosity of people across Canada. In 1986, CARE Canada evolved from a fundraising agency to an operational development organization.
CARE Canada is a member of the CARE International network, which was founded in 1982 to enhance the internationalization of CARE's worldwide activities. CARE International is comprised of 10 national CAREs, with a Secretariat located in Geneva. Collectively, the members of CARE International are responsible for development, emergency, and rehabilitation projects valued at over $700 million annually.

The intern will be working on projects that aim to improve the standard
of living for families linked to agricultural and forestry production
Prior to departure for Cuba, the Intern will be briefed by program staff and will review relevant project and program documents.
To provide support to the CARE Cuba Capacity Building Programme.
Specific Responsibilities and Activities
Project and Program Management:
Provide assistance in project management to ensure projects are on-track, are achieving their objectives and are compliant with policies and procedures
Assist project managers in implementing gender strategies and environmental assessment strategies
Provide ongoing support in administration, information requirements, reporting, etc.
Monitoring project budgets
Assist in the organization of project and program development meetings
Support the teams in the annual, quarterly and semester planning
Support the Project team in the organization and facilitation of workshops
Facilitate in the preparation of training for project team member and other local partners
Support the project team with the procurement and control mechanism according to CIDA guidelines
Country Office Support:
Developing and Promoting the country office gender strategy
Preparing training materials for the country office in gender, risk prevention and mitigation.
Organizing and coordinating workshops
Assist in the development of relationships between International NGOs and Cubans and donors to support the work of CARE in Cuba
Specific Requirements and Skills
The ideal candidate should have knowledge of international development with a specific background in capacity building, workshop planning, facilitation, and administration. Skills required include communication, organization, planning, research and writing skills. The candidate should have experience in cross-cultural settings and must be able to communicate in Spanish.

Since then, CARE has worked in close cooperation with local partners to deliver projects in water and sanitation, agriculture, food production and community development. CARE's activities contribute to the improvement of conditions of the standard of living of the Cuban population.|
