The intern will be working on the following projects:
Africa Environmental Outlook (AEO) 3 - In response to a request, an environmental assessment is being prepared to develop a State of the Environment report for Africa. The intern will assist CEDARE with the production of the section concerning the state of the environment in North Africa.
Africa Environmental Information Network (AEIN) -with funding provided by the UNEP, a large number of institutions and agencies in the environmental field agreed to establish an environmental information network to support environmental information distribution and management throughout the continent to improve natural resources management. The intern will assist with a number of tasks including creating environmental information databases and preparing a National environmental information strategy and National state of the environment report.
The Arab State of the Environment - Arab SOE is the first environmental report covering the Arab region.
Prior to their departure, interns will sign a contract and begin to prepare for their placements by conducting research, contacting their supervisor overseas, applying for their visa, getting their vaccindations, and attending a 7 day pre-departure training in Winnipeg where they will be expected to actively contribute to discussions. They will also attend a debrefing session upon their return to Canada.
- Assist in information gathering.
- Assist in the development of African Environment Outlook 3, African Environmental Information Network phase II, and Arab State of the Environment. This will include but is not limited to the following:
- Creating environmental information databases and preparing a National environmental information strategy and National state of environment report.
- Assist CEDARE with the production of the section concerning the state of the environment in North Africa
- Analyze data and present outputs of above-mentioned reports
- Other duties as assigned.

|Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil :||The Centre for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) was established on the basis of a joint commitment by the three principal sponsors, namely the Government of Egypt (GOE), the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Their mandate is to promote the advancement of "environmental action for development" through investment in human capital, releasing potential creative energies with the aim of building qualified human cadres, capable of assimilating the concepts and requirements of the age, and capable of leading the development process, especially in the fields of CEDARE's work priorities, with an emphasis on empowering women and youth, and mobilizing their potentials and creative capacities.|
