Description du stage : The Natural Futures Programme aim is to engage natural product producer groups in formal market economies in order to bring benefits to the household, community and the sector as a whole. This programme is designed to exemplify and promote sustainable development for some of southern Africa's most rural and poverty stricken communities that are involved in the sustainable use of indigenous, locally adapted natural resources.

In Canada
Prior to their departure, interns will sign a contract and begin to prepare for their placements by conducting research, contacting their supervisor overseas, applying for their visa, getting their shots, and attending a 7 day pre-departure training in Winnipeg where they will be expected to actively contribute to discussions. They will also attend a debrefing session upon their return to Canada.

Overseas
Natural Futures Programme

- Assist in the research and documentation of the project (include preparing and dissemination of issue papers, advocacy and awareness raising tools, reports, Terms of Reference and contracts for programme consultants and other documents).
- Support programme management activities, including fundraising, M&E, and preparing presentations and attending meetings as needed,
- Research, develop and initiate specific components of the Programme

IUCN-SA Marketing and Communications

Support the implementation of IUCN-SA's intercessional programme and business plan, including:
- Work with project staff to document IUCN's progress towards national, regional and international priorities
- Programme planning, reporting and data collection, including in preparation for the next intercessional period
- Communications activities related to the programme (including preparing content for the website)

Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : IUCN's mandate is to influence, encourage, and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable. IUCN is an important partner in many sustainable development related initiatives implemented globally on issues of climate change, biodiversity, land degradation and sustainable livelihoods. IISD is a member of IUCN. IISD and IUCN have been working together on projects for over 10 years.
