Mandat : Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC), the only English-language public college in Nova Scotia, consists of thirteen campuses at sixteen sites throughout the province. Description du stage : The demise of the mining and cocaine industries in the Cochabamba region in Bolivia has in part led to a high number of homeless and displaced people, including children and youth. Fundación Amanecer operates eight shelters and homes for displaced children and youth and their mothers, offering basic shelter, educational services, counseling, and basic technical training. The intern will provide basic education and other support services to displaced children and youth.

As part of the Fundación Amanecer team, the intern will provide customized education services on an individual basis to a selected group of students in homes operated by the Foundation. Additional responsibilities will include the planning and implementation of social skill development activities for a number of displaced children and youth on a group basis. The intern will assist Amanecer staff in the provision of the above activities as part of an interdisciplinary team. The intern will be expected to:
- in cooperation with Fundación Amanecer staff identify and provide most appropriate education services on an individual basis, as well as social integration activities on a group basis for displaced children and youth
- identify and evaluate learning needs of individual students
- plan, develop and implement customized learning plans and tools for children and youth
- in agreement with Fundación Amanecer staff identify, plan and implement appropriate social skill development and reintegration programs
- brief local staff on prevalent practices in Canada
- provide general child care duties
- coordinate activities with other program components of the Foundation
- perform related duties as required.

Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : Fundación Amanecer’s (http://www.amanecer-bolivia.org/amanecer.htm) clients include displaced children and youth ages newborn to eighteen years as well as the mothers of these children and youth. Fundación Amanecer has more than twenty years of experience providing for their clients a number of support services, such as shelter, food, clothing, formal and informal education, medical and dental care, and counselling. In addition, basic technical training is offered in programs such as metal working, carpentry, agricultural technology, and automotive mechanics.
