| Organisation d'accueil : | Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) |
| Détails au sujet de l'organisation d'accueil : | To help mitigate gender-based violence in Swaziland, SWAGAA, with assistance from CCI, created a girls empowerment program in 3 primary and 3 secondary schools in January 2008. An IYIP intern assisted with the development of a plan of operation and a monitoring system. There is now great interest to expand this project, particularly to rural areas. Over a three-year period it is expected that the IYIP interns will help assess present monitoring tools, perform an impact evaluation, identify strategies to expand the project and to seek appropriate funding for such expansion. SWAGAA is the lead NGO in Swaziland advocating for the passage of Domestic Violence legislation which is expected to pass before December 2009. To assist women and create an understanding of the legislation within the court system SWAGAA intends to develop a court watch system. The court watch system would be modelled after other court watch programs in Africa; the IYIP positions would research these programs leading to the development and piloting of a Swazi program. |
