Name of event: Carnival of Solidarity: A Celebration of Cultures and Social Justice
Brief Description of Event: The Global Connections Student Committee (GCSC) at the University of Saskatchewan’s International Student and Study Abroad Centre (ISSAC) would like to invite the public to their capstone event of the year, The “Carnival of Solidarity: A Celebration of Cultures and Social Justice,” which will be held on Friday March 2nd, 2012 at Louis’ bar on campus, beginning at 5:30pm. This will be the final event of the University’s “Celebrating International Research and Development Month” in February. The Carnival will showcase the talent and diversity of Saskatoon’s cultural and social justice groups with an organization fair, an international dinner (beginning at 5:30pm), live cultural performances, and an open party beginning at 8:30pm. The Carnival will also be a fundraiser for “Iskwewuk Ewichiwitochik (Women Walking Together),” which is a local community organization that raises awareness and supports families of missing Aboriginal women.
