Theme:
The Millennium Development Goals — Moving from Consensus to Momentum
Day One: Why this UN-led Strategy Matters Now
The UN Millennium Declaration, signed in 2000 by 189 members of the United Nations, was cause for much celebration. Governments united behind goals such as cutting in half the number of people living in extreme poverty and hunger by 2015. Will the MDGs be able to live up to their promises?
Day Two: Building Momentum
For Canadians involved in supporting the implementation of the MDGs, it will not be business as usual from now until the MDG target date of 2015: all sectors from youth to development professionals to the private sector have a part to play.
Day Three: Canadian Development Cooperation in Action
Attend a panel discussion hosted by CIDA senior management. Participate in workshops to learn about new policies and perspectives in Canadian governmental and non-governmental development assistance. |
